The Plastic Revolution
Plastic overtaking paper Visa moves aggressively into new markets, including workers without bank accounts, whose wages can go into cards

Visa USA is bursting out of the traditional credit-card arena into a host of evolving new ways to use plastic. Some signposts:

-- Fast-food customers at McDonald's, Wendy's or Burger King can pay by Visa card. Improved technology speeds the "swipe" time.

-- Recipients of state child support in Washington, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota and Maryland have the option of getting their payment via a Visa debit card.

-- Employees at more than 1,000 companies, including Denny's, Federal Express, Coca-Cola and U-Haul, can have their wages automatically deposited into payroll cards, which they use for purchases and ATM transactions just like regular Visa debit cards.

  • Johnson Business Machines pays careful attention to card issuers' needs. We have a customer-oriented, results-motivated business philosophy and always keep our customers' applications in mind when we propose plastic-card solutions. Thus, personalization services, which feature unrivaled flexibility coupled with bulletproof security, have evolved into a core competency of JBM. These services include not only card personalization as such, but also card packaging and value-added services (notably, shipping solutions) as well.

Whether you need personalization services for large or small batches, you will find in your local JBM personalization center the service-minded staff, the experience and the adaptable production capacity you require.

    We handle big jobs...

Perhaps you are looking for ad hoc customization solutions for large lots of cards. You may represent a bank or government organization and the job could be "one-off" or perhaps renewed periodically. JBM ensures the success of your operation thanks to its large production capacity which is immediately available. JBM also guarantees the quality of their workmanship.

    ...and small ones too

Or maybe you want a reliable supplier on a permanent basis (job lots that are daily, weekly, monthly, etc.). You require consistent quality, but for smaller lots. JBM, of course, offers impeccable quality, furthermore, we ensure quick turnaround times and industry-leading logistic performance - two key factors that contribute to the success of your business.

Brand Support - Every company makes or markets a product or service. The company's image is expressed through these. Sometimes, as in the case of a bank card issuer, the product and how it performs is the most significant factor in influencing how the organization as a whole is perceived. How you say it becomes as important as what you say. Thus, JBM understands that personalization is considered by its customers as a major step in the life cycle of their cards.

Personalized Service - The vast majority of cards follow the same production line. However, you may require additional services: urgent processing, prestige packaging or you may want simply to outsource distribution to card users. JBM has specific offerings to meet all these needs and more. It is our strategy to do the best job possible in helping your company build a successful image and achieve its objectives.

What's New, What's Next in the World of Plastic Cards?

Consumers today crave intriguing products, instant access and perfectly tailored solutions and services. And they're willing to pledge their loyalty to the companies and brands most able to meet their requirements.

This .com-powered trend has spawned libraries full of new marke-ting theories, and has sent both consumer and business-to-business marketers scrambling to find the next great idea to attract and retain customers.

As a result, card personalization as an art, science or industry is headed for major change. Digital imaging is already changing the rules and longstanding paradigms associated with card printing. Laser engra-ving is turning plastic cards into the medium of choice for national IDs and other documents with high-security needs. And smart cards are on the verge of changing - and streamlining - the way we access products, services and privileges.
